About

~The Therapeutic Relationship Offers a Space for Healing and Growth~

I am an expert in providing empathy to others. Although I will never know what it’s like to live the life of someone else, it is second nature for me to tune into the experiences of others. I am intuitive and perceptive; I feel things deeply; I am very connected to my spirituality and I have profound respect for all living things. These personal characteristics allow me to join with people in their experiences in ways that help them feel heard and seen. Through our therapeutic connection, I support individuals in making space to explore their thoughts, feelings, hurts, regrets, past and present relationships, ways of being, hopes, dreams, desires, and questions they have about themselves or others. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Somatic Therapy: We are embodied beings, we don’t exist with just our minds. It is my belief that the mind and body are one connected system, but many of us have learned to tune out what our bodies are feeling and carrying, and instead rely solely on our thinking minds. We do this mostly unconsciously as a form of self-preservation, in order to manage overwhelming feelings that the body holds. We may have been told that our emotions are too much. We may have learned that it’s safer to take up as little space as possible, and not show up as our full authentic selves. We might experience our emotions as something existing outside of ourselves or we may only feel strong emotions when they erupt out of us like an exploding volcano. While other times we suppress them in an effort to control them and squash them. We also can’t experience joy and happiness to the fullest extent. We end up carrying around the energy of past emotions that haven’t been processed and allowed to move through us. They weigh heavy on us, get in the way, and block our growth. When we aren’t tuned into our bodies, we lose out on the intuition and wisdom that can come from within. There is so much self-knowledge to discover in the body. If you want to reconnect to your body, I can help you get there in a gentle and intentional manner. There are many ways to get there, and we can find the way that best suits you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More About Me: I am a white cis female (she/her) and I am part of the queer community. I identify as neurodivergent and I am non-disabled. I am passionate about social justice, and I am committed to reversing the immense harm that has been done and continues to be done in our society from the legacy of racism and bigotry. I have a laid back demeanor and I am told that I exude warmth. I have a soft and gentle voice which can be calming and soothing, but I also have a fiery spirit that is assertive, passionate and bold. I don’t know what it’s like to be you, but I have been on my own healing journey for a long time. It has helped me become a better clinician and continues to be very important for my ongoing growth and healing as a person, and especially as a mental health therapist. In my free time I like to go thrifting for trinkets and other treasures, up-cycle clothing, engage in arts and crafts, music and movement, spend time outdoors, and spend time with family and friends. Reach out for a free consultation if you would like to explore the idea of working with me.
